We all know the Which? organisation and their advice has been highly regarded over many years. Take a minute to read this site:
The Which? report notes, and we agree, that an alarm is “a strong deterrent” but it does not protect your home 100%, although it does go a long way towards keeping your family safe and secure! The Which? report also gives ideas to further boost your home security; Third Eye Installation Systems already produce a leaflet which gives Security Tips on keeping your home safe – see the attached. Maybe give it some thought and have a look around your property this weekend and see how many you can tick off.
Read what burglars say they look for when considering a burglary and how 71% of burglars state they will avoid a property with an alarm! That’s not a bad statistic. The main issue is that you must use your alarm, both night and day. When you leave your home you set the alarm for all areas – meaning that if there was an intrusion anywhere in the property then the alarm will activate. We also programme our alarms for night setting, meaning you can set the alarm and exclude the upstairs landing device, but the ground floor is fully alarmed. We receive a weekly report from the local Neighbourhood Watch which regularly report burglaries which occur during the night whereby the homeowner investigates a noise and encounter the intruder, or they discover the incident when then come down in the morning! Any activation at a property with an alarm would set off the external bell box, making a lot of noise, creating interest from neighbours, and definitely waking up anyone in the home.
Our alarms now have a built in Home Control App which enables the home owner to control the alarm from their mobile phone. This also means that if there was an activation on the alarm then the homeowner would receive a notification on their phone telling them what area has caused the alarm. Sometimes the problem is interference, like a balloon moving about or curtains blowing via an open window. However, if 2 or more devices are activated then it is possible that someone is moving about in your property. You then have the option to decide to call a friend, a nearby neighbour or get home quickly!
Finally, the report states that burglars are looking for jewellery, money, phones and watches. Third Eye also professionally installs security Safes in your home to look after your special valuables.
