Paddington Span 4 Upgrade

Monday, November 30th, 2009

Third Eye Installation Systems Limited has been awarded the contract for the renewal of the CCTV and PAVA within the SPAN4 train shed at Paddington station. This follows on the back of the upgrade to the Span’s glazed roof which has previously been allowed to fall into disrepair over an extended period.

As part of the upgrade much of the existing supporting steelwork will be deep cleaned and where necessary repaired and repainted to bring the Span back to a pristine condition. During this time the CCTV and PA/VA has to remain operational as part of the safety critical services needed to keep the station open.

As an English Heritage site the CCTV and PAVA assets need to remain sympathetic to the structure. Once the steelwork has been renovated the PA/VA and CCTV will be installed utilising brand new containment concealed within the fabric of the building.

The completion date for all works is set for the summer of 2010.
